Schools across the province are implementing the Ministry of Education and Child Care's new K-12 Student Reporting Policy. To help parents and caregivers better understand the new reporting framework, the Ministry has created a K-12 Student Reporting Information page, as well as a one page document for parents and caregivers.
Specifically, YouLearn will be reporting as follows:
K-6 Elementary
- on or before October 26: Informal Report (Academic Review)
- on or before December 14: Written Update (SPACES); Student Core Competency and Goal Reflections Required
- on or before February 08: Informal Report (Academic Review)
- on or before March 08: Written Update (SPACES); Student Core Competency and Goal Reflections Required
- June 29: Summary of Learning (SPACES + MyEd); Student Core Competency and Goal Reflections Required
7-12 Middle & Secondary
Semester 1
- on or before October 26: Informal Report (Academic Review)
- on or before December 14: Written Update (Marksheets); Student Core Competency and Goal Reflections Required
- on or before February 1: Summary of Learning (Marksheets + MyEd); Student Core Competency, Goal Reflections and Term Comments Required
Semester 2
- on or before March 08: Informal Report (Academic Review)
- on or before May 03: Written Update (Marksheets); Student Core Competency and Goal Reflections Required
- June 29: Summary of Learning (Marksheets + MyEd); Student Core Competency, Goal Reflections and Term Comments Required
Reporting changes are intended to result in assessments and reports that are timely, ongoing, and more promotive of communicating and supporting student learning. Please review your child's SPACES.edu posts or marksheets regularly, as well as the MyEdBC ParentPortal (for final reports) and contact us if you cannot access these or if have any questions. Note: Student Core Competency and Goal Reflection reporting requirements apply to school-age students on the regular graduation diploma program only, not adults.
