What courses do I need and what are the requirements to graduate?

There are two paths available for graduation in British Columbia. Students of all ages may complete a DOGWOOD CERTIFICATE which consists of 80 credits. Alternately, adult age students (18 years or older) may choose to complete a more condensed Adult DOGWOOD CERTIFICATE program of 20 credits. Click on the links below for more information.

DOGWOOD DIPLOMA FULL - 80 Credits

Credits must be earned in the following subject areas or courses: 

  1. A Language Arts 10 (4 credits)
  2. A Language Arts 11 (4 credits)
  3. A Language Arts 12 (4 credits) 
  4. A Social Studies 10 (4 credits) 
  5. A Social Studies 11 or 12 (4 credits) 
  6. A Mathematics 10 (4 credits) 
  7. A Mathematics 11 or 12 (4 credits) 
  8. A Science 10 (4 credits) 
  9. A Science 11 or 12 (4 credits)
  10. Physical and Health Education 10 (4 credits)
  11. An Arts Education and/or an Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies 10, 11, or 12 (4 credits) 
  12. Career Life Education (4 credits)
  13. Career Life Connections (4 credits)

ADULT DOGWOOD DIPLOMA - 20 Credits

To graduate with an Adult Dogwood, students must have:

  1. A required Language Arts 12 course
  2. A Math 11 or 12 course OR Accounting 11
  3. At least three additional Grade 12 electives, or a Grade 11 Socials Studies course and two additional Grade 12 electives***

Courses and credits can be counted from either or both the public secondary and post-secondary systems.


***Life experiences can count toward credit towards selected grade 12 courses

  • View grades and unofficial transcripts to obtain grades for self-reporting (you can see provincial exam marks and the numeracy – literacy  information here)
  • Order and send transcripts
  • View transcript order, status and history
  • View BC scholarships
    • This may be the only way many of the institutions will accept and receive your interim and final marks
