Indigenous Graduating Students - Strengthening Connections
Jessica Stelkia, SD53's Indigenous Graduation Coach, has organized a day for Indigenous graduates to connect with post-secondary and career representatives: Uvic, UBC, OC, NVIT, UBC Medical and the RCMP on Monday October 28 at the Nk'mip Campground Clubhouse in Osoyoos. A bus will leave from SOSS at 9:30 AM and return for 2:15 PM. Interested students are asked to email Jessica ([email protected]) directly for more information or to RSVP and reserve a spot for Monday.
Remembrance Day Content
Once again, the Royal Canadian Legion is holding its annual Youth Remembrance Day contest. Students are encouraged to honour Canadian Veterans and foster the tradition of Remembrance through entering one or more of their three contests: poster, written word, and video. Awards are given to local winners who then become eligible for regional and national awards. Over the years, we have had several YouLearn students participate in this contest, win prizes, and advance to the regional and national levels. For more information visit: National Youth Remembrance Contests. The deadline for this year's submission to be in our Oliver YouLearn office is Tuesday November 12.
Students, please discuss with your YouLearn teachers how your entry into any of these contests might be content for marks. Good luck!
